4 Mecklenburg players make 2014 Shrine-Bowl team

Four Mecklenburg County prep football players made the N.C. Shrine-Bowl team, which was announced Monday afternoon.

Rocky River defensive back Jaire Alexander, Butler defensive lineman Jalen Cousar, Hough tight end Carl Tucker and Ardrey Kell offensive lineman Mason Veal will play in the game. The Shrine-Bowl kicks off Dec. 20 in Spartanburg and will match some of the best seniors in North Carolina against their S.C. counterparts.

Six area players were also named to the N.C. team: Nate Mullen, WR, Hickory Ridge; Tanner Muse, DB, South Point; Akease Rankin, RB, Mooresville; Rocky Reid, RB, Concord; Darian Roseboro, DL, Lincolnton; Chazmyn Turner, DL, Mooresville

Rock Hill Northwestern receiver Dupree Hart and teammate Christopher Bouyer, a defensive lineman, made the S.C. team along with York's Daurice Simpson.
