Providence Day's Jatarie White named McDonald's All-American

Providence Day’s Jatarie White, the 2012-13 Observer player of the year, is a McDonald’s All-American.

White, a 6-foot-4 senior headed to South Caroilna, was one of 24 girls picked to play in the McDonald’s All-American game April 2 in Chicago. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU at 6 p.m. The boys game follows at 8:30 p.m.

White was the N.C. Associated Press and N.C. Gatorade player of the year as a junior, averaging 19 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks. She led the Chargers to the N.C. Independent Schools state championship last season. This year, White has led Providence Day to a 19-3 record. She averages 22 points and nine rebounds for the Chargers, who play Charlotte Christian at home Friday night at 6.
