Community School of Davidson coach Tony Brown dies at his home Monday

Community School of Davidson boys basketball coach Tony Brown passed away unexpectedly Monday morning at his home.

Brown was also a coach with the Charlotte Storm AAU program, which posted a brief memorial on the team’s website.

“Tony was a great freind and supporter of so many people,” the memorial stated in part. “Words cannot express our loss. We hope to continue his work and passion for people. Our prayers are with his family, dear wife Melody and sons Richard and Robert.”

Brown’s team at Community School of Davidson is scheduled to play at Bessemer City Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

So very sad! Tony was a man serving kids through his coaching. My son just said last week what a great coach he is. Prayers to the family.

Coach Brown was great coach at CSD, but an even better role model, mentor and friend to his players, parents and staff. He is missed deeply by everyone. He touched the lives of many across Charlotte with his time and love that he devoted to basketball and to young men. Our prayers go out to his family.

Wow! I am Shocked. Not only was Tony my Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity brother, He and I worked together at MCI in East Meadow,NY back in the 80's. I was unaware that he had relocated to the charlotte area. Rest in peace Bro. "Flash", until we meet again.
