Myers Park fires head football coach Scott Stein

Myers Park has fired head football coach Scott Stein. Principal Mark Bosco announced the decision Monday

After extensive thought and deliberation, I have decided that our football program needs a different direction. All of us involved in athletics at Myers Park High School appreciate the effort that Scott Stein gave this community and our student athletes. We wish him every success in any future endeavors he may undertake.

Bosco said the search for a replacement will begin quickly.

Stein has been out for several months on medical leave and missed the majority of the past season. Myers Park finished 4-7. The Mustangs won their final two games of the season -- 56-6 over Garinger and 49-6 over East Meck.

Last month, Myers Park athletics director Rick Lewis told the Observer that Stein was due to return to school in January.

Myers Park will have taken a new direction in each of the last 4 years with the football coaching position. Perhaps that is not the place they should look for "new direction." Once, good management. Twice, maybe necessary. Four times in 4 years, time to scrutinize the AD.

If you take a new direction 4 years in a row, aren't you right back where you started?

Stein needs to throw in the towel or hit West Charlotte HS to help them get back 75% of their athletes who play at Mallard Creek.

On a side note why a creepyasscracka rural runt jobless poser xwaterboy freak pedophile who gluts up all these sports blogs 24/7/365 takes an interest in MPHS?

Huh? So new CMS Superintendent Morrison who came from Reno NV 2 yrs ago is ignoring or ignorant about the same major problem that Dr Gorman fixed before he left?

Anonymous posts always add more vitriol. " creepyasscracka rural runt jobless poser xwaterboy freak pedophile" Really? What does that even accomplish? I don't even know about whom you are speaking.

Get your facts straight. Two coaches in four years. Greg Taylor was there for three years prior to Stein.

And so it continues, apparently Myers Park is on the lookout for another baseball coach. No mention from the observer, probably cause it conflicts with Langston's basketball watching. What is this the 4th? 5th? head coach in the last 6 years? Is this a case of the inmates running the asylum? Just plain bad hires? My guess is he P.O'd the wrong parent and since little Jimmy didn't make the team they made a donate so the coach would go. It's inexcusable for a school like MP to be marginal at best at baseball. The feeder schools and ball clubs are all top notch. Of course, as a parent of a current team member they're soft, entitled myers park kids with overbearing parents.
