Myers Park has fired head football coach Scott Stein. Principal Mark Bosco announced the decision Monday
“After extensive thought and deliberation, I have decided that our football program needs a different direction. All of us involved in athletics at Myers Park High School appreciate the effort that Scott Stein gave this community and our student athletes. We wish him every success in any future endeavors he may undertake.”
Bosco said the search for a replacement will begin quickly.
Stein has been out for several months on medical leave and missed the majority of the past season. Myers Park finished 4-7. The Mustangs won their final two games of the season -- 56-6 over Garinger and 49-6 over East Meck.
Last month, Myers Park athletics director Rick Lewis told the Observer that Stein was due to return to school in January.
