Charlotte Catholic RB and Notre Dame commit Elijah Hood flushes Alabama letter

"Roll Toilet."

That's what Elijah Hood has to say to Nick Saban and Alabama football, which apparently is still sending him letters despite his April commitment to Notre Dame.

Hood, a running back and linebacker for Charlotte Catholic, filmed himself taking one of his letters with Alabama's script 'A' and flushing it down the toilet. He tweeted a link to the post on Vine, an app that allows users to post short video clips of no more than six seconds.

In the Vine, Hood shows multiple letters from Alabama addressed to him in the care of Charlotte Catholic. He says "Dang, Nick Saban hooked your boy up" before cutting to the clip of one letters floating in a toilet. He finishes the post saying, "Roll Toilet," a parody on the popular "Roll Tide" saying by Alabama fans.

He has since deleted his Vine post.

Hood likely wouldn't do this with any school. Alabama defeated Notre Dame 42-14 in January in one of the most lopsided BCS National Championship Games in history.

Hood, the Observer's reigning offensive player of the year, rushed for a county-record 3,309 yards and 48 touchdowns in 2012. He plans to enroll in South Bend after his June 2014 graduation. He was heavily recruited by many of the top programs in the nation and ultimately selected the Fighting Irish over North Carolina.

"There are plenty of good schools close by," Hood told the Observer in April, "but there's something about Notre Dame. It's a great place with so much history and tradition. They have stuff I couldn't have dreamed of. They wowed me. They took my breath away at times. I knew it was the place."

Classy. Saban didn't get to where he is by giving up after being rejected. No need to go public with this crap. Recruits just can't help but making themselves look like idiots on social media these days. I hope he saw the BCS Championship Game, ND won't be back this year, or to the playoffs when they start! Good luck sucking in Indiana!

Think this kid likes attention much???

He can't go to UNC with the cloud of cheating over their department. ND quarterback Everett Golson was suspended for at least a year for cheating. This guy ain't all that bright afterall. There was once a superstar at Ashbrook High named Junior Hall who went to Clemson and hit hard times. Young man, it ain't about you, it's about the team. You could have won a championship at Alabama.

Wowed by fat pale Midwestern chicks? Dude is easily impressed then.

ND - a place with imaginary girlfriends and imaginary talent.

That was the wrong thing for this young man to do. Guess he doesn't realize that letterhead paper won't dissolve in the sewer line like TP does. Now his parents will have to call Roto Rooter to unplug the pipe!

How ungrateful. Must be really tough being offered a free college education over and over. War Eagle!

Maybe he's bitter because he doesn't have an offer from Alabama. At least none of the recruiting services show one.

I don't know what is worse. The kid doing this or the Observer thinking it is a story.

So much for all that talk about what a class kid he is.

And yet, anonymous 6:12 ... you not only read the story but also took the time to comment. THAT is why the newspaper wrote about it. Lemming.

Anonymous 6:33 - Lemming? And what would that make you? Troll....

I can't believe the observer posted this.

To those who say "no talent," just stand there and let Hood tap you a bit. He went to a Catholic high school and is going to a Catholic college. Maybe being black and Catholic are causing issues in this forum?

Stay classy Charlotte Catholic! Mabe this kid will get the chance to play Nick Saban at some point over his (probably) 5 year college career, if he stays in school... But somehow I doubt these teams will play again that soon. Funny thing is, when you're winning like Saban and the Tide are, you could care less about kids with this attitude. He's a gnat on Saban's windshield.

And for the record, he didn't even have an offer from Alabama. There's 100's of kids out there getting these letters, but only a select few get the offer. That select few has gone down more since the tightening up of recruiting regulations.

I love it. Saban grey-shirts and oversigns recruiting classes every year. He's aggressive and usually signs top talent. Glad to see Hood stiff-arming Saban for a change.

Well it's not hard to spot the bama fans in this thread.
A little hint for you, kids are wising up to nicky.

This kid isn't as good as advertised. Ignore the stats. He plays in an offense where they pass the ball like 4 times a game. And he is running against Statesville talent not 4A kids. Look at the number of carries he has. Charlotte Catholic has an offense straight outta the 1940s.

@ 7:50

Um, yea, like games where he rushed for 200+ yards on 9 carries.

They usually stop running him early in the 2nd half, and he's still getting 150-200 yards.

Doesn't Catholic play in a 4A league in the fall? If so, I'll bet his averages don't do down at all.

Anonymous said...

Wouldn't that mean his is better than advertised? If every team they play knows Catholic is going to run the ball and not pass...

Why don't you all get a clue before you make ridiculous posts. Hood is a classy kid, and the real deal. He would've gotten an offer from Alabama. I don't know why there are so many haters on a high school kid. Get a life, and get a clue. Why don't you go to a CCHS game this fall, and find out for yourself if he is the real deal. Bring a cold drink because you'll need something to wash it down after you eat your words.

Would never even see the field for Alabama. Maybe on special teams.

Awww look at all the sore 'Bama' fans. The kid wants to play football and get an education. Something you can't get at Alabama.

@8:11

Their offense is a Wing T. The Wing T offense is a trick to hide undersized offensive linemen and cause misdirection of where the play is going. Just because they run the ball every play doesn't mean the defense knows where it is going. The kid is a scholarship player but he will never be a starter on a team like Notre Dame. Compared to other top backs that have come out of the state in the past 10 years he is not near the same player as an Andre Brown on Montario Hardesty. Those guys dominated the best of the best.

Oh for...who is insulted by this? Who cares? Your top story: "High schooler does something mildly immature that causes no harm to anyone or anything. In other news, scientists report water to be 'wet' and say trees are 'made of wood.'"

Willy Loman said...

Wow, just when you thought this was a smart, classy kid...he shows his true color. Alabama's second string lineman could snap him in half tomorrow if they played. ND will have another trumped up, celebrated season and if we just read the papers and listened to ESPN we could just give them a title and not have to let them play for it. But they do have to play for it....and they are simply an embarrassment.

I've never understood why parents send their kids to Catholic. The graduation rates are similar, and SAT scores higher at a couple of the local public schools. It is definitely a joke school, but academics???

Anonymous said...

Not a good start for this kid. Play ball and leave the talking on the field. There was no need to do this, maybe a little self promotion. His head might be getting a little big.

Haters gonna hate. Go Hood, and go Irish!

What is it about Charlotte players and Alabama? Didn't Ferguson also diss them? Sure makes good bulletin board material

It goes:

Can't spell Enbread without...well, crap...that's what I get for going to 'Bama. : (
