Albemarle promotes Seth Smith as its new head football coach

Former Albemarle assistant coach Seth Smith is the new head football coach for the Bulldogs, athletics director Joanne Hesley said.

Smith has coached at Albemarle for 17 years, coaching under Jack Gaster, Baxter Morris and Danny Akins. Akins resigned the position in April to take the job at Southwestern Randolph.

Albemarle was 13-2 last season and reached the regional championship game.

The Bulldogs have had six straight winning seasons, averaging 12.5 wins per season in that run.
