Friday's top Observer-area performers

Grayce Anderson, Charlotte Latin girls lacrosse: five goals, four assists in 18-9 win over Providence Day. Catherine Crigler had four scores.
Grace Beatty, Olympic softball: 4-for-5 with a home run, triple and seven RBIs.
Lizzy Birch, Logan Raker, Independence softball: Birch (4-for-4, double, three RBIs) and Raker (3-for-4, double, three RBIs) had big games in a 13-2 win over Myers Park. Pitcher Morgan Benson got her eighth win and allowed three hits.
Jonathan Caldwell, Piedmont baseball: 3-for-4 in 7-0 win over Cuthbertson that clinched the league title. Piedmont is 20-2, 12-0 in the Rocky River conference.
Chase Davis, Porter Ridge tennis: beat teammate Logan McMahan 6-4, 7-5 to win the Southern Carolina tennis title. Sun Valley’s Rory Lazenby and Tyler Borgue won the doubles.
Kaylee Freeman, Central Cabarrus softball: one-hit shutout in 4-0 win over Mount Pleasant to win the South Piedmont championship.
Megan Gray, Amelia Melching, Providence girls soccer: Three goals each in 9-0 win over East Meck. Anna Dalton had the shutout.
Jordan Greene, Country Day baseball: 2-for-3 with two home runs, three RBIs in 10-0 win over Cannon.
Nick Gregor, Providence Day baseball: 4-for-6, double and three RBIs in 27-4 win over Charlotte Latin. Kendall Hughes and Otto Fricker had four RBIs each.
Russ Groome, Myers Park baseball: 2-for-4 with four RBIs in 6-3 win over Independence.
Meredith Harris, Charlotte Christian softball: 2-for-4 with grand slam in 13-1 win over SouthLake Christian.
Riley Harrison, Country Day girls lacrosse: five goals, eight assists in 21-5 win over Forsyth Country Day.
Logan Koch, South Meck baseball: 2-for-4 with triple and RBI in 9-3 win over Butler.
Brooke Sharpe, Alexander Central softball: 3-for-4 with three runs scores iin 6-0 win over Hibriten.
