Tuesday's top high school spring sports performers

Tuesday’s Top Performers
Brandi Arey, Hough girls’ soccer: One goal, two assists in 5-0 win against Mooresville. Marnie Merritt and Katie Easley shared the shutout for Hough (7-0, 5-0 I-Meck 4A), which won its 32nd straight game.
Morgan Benson, Independence softball: 2-for-4 in 5-0 win against Myers Park with a double, a triple and two RBIs. Also got win, striking out seven.
Lamar Briggs, Davidson Day baseball: 2-for-4 with a triple in 4-3 win against Statesville Christian.
Jessica Curtis, Marvin Ridge softball: 3-for-3 with a double, two home runs and five RBIs in a 13-1 win against Parkwood. Peyton Jordan struck out 11 in five innings.
Henry Davis, Country Day boys’ lacrosse: Four goals, three assists in 12-1 win against Davidson Day.
Ellie Deaver, Providence girls’ soccer: Three goals in 9-0 win against East Meck. Anna Dalton got the shutout for the Panthers (7-2-1, 4-2 Southwestern 4A).
Peter Englert, Covenant Day baseball: 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in a 12-1 win against Hickory Grove.
Bailey Ferguson, Ladi Aladeniyi, Mallard Creek girls’ soccer: Shared shutout in 3-0 win against Hopewell.
Josh Hiatt, SouthLake Christian baseball: Three homers, six RBIs in a 14-7 win against Westminster Catawba.
Alina McCue, Covenant Day girls’ soccer: Four goals in 8-0 win against Hickory Grove.
Quay Mills, Freedom girls’ soccer: Got fourth shutout of the season in a 7-0 win against East Rutherford. Seven Patriots scored.
Logan Redmond, Olympic baseball: Threw two-hitter in 9-0 win against Catholic. Olympic (8-4, 6-0) remains in first place in the ME-GA 7 3A/4A.
DJ Thornton, Pine Lake Prep boys’ golf: Shot 38 at Birkdale to win medalist honors in match with Community School of Davidson.
Taylor Wike, Alexander Central softball: 3-for-4 with five RBIs, two runs scored in 15-1 win against Hibriten.
