Scott Brewer out as Concord boys basketball coach

After six seasons, Scott Brewer is done as Concord’s basketball coach.

Brewer led the Spiders to the 2010 N.C. 3A state finals and his teams made four straight Western Regional appearances at one time.

In four seasons, Brewer was 160-21, following Andy Poplin, who led the Spiders to the 2006 3A state final and won the 3A championship in 2007.

Forced out is more like it.

Why?

A typical situation where parents control the school and principals and athletic directors have no courage or integerity to standup and be there for their coach's.
LET the PARENTS continue to be in CHARGE!!! Sadness.

How is it possible to win like that and be forced out, especially by parents?

I don't think Ricky cared for Coach Long.

Being a coach goes beyond wins and losses. While Brewer never assaulted any players, as was the sad case at Rutgers University, his use of profanity and demeaning attitude towards certain players became intolerable. There are enough players who opted out of basketball at Concord High to have won several state championships.

Brewer never tried to do anything for those boys. Also he had no respect for the concerned parents or students on any level. That's from both educational/personal/sports. Reaping and sowing goes together! Now he's upset about getting back what he has been giving to the boys for six seasons.
