Olympic, Myers Park girls hold steady in Observer Sweet 16 poll

As we head down the final stretch of the high school basketball regular season, unbeaten Olympic and unbeaten Myers Park girls still sit atop the Observer’s Sweet 16 poll.

There was a little movement beneath them in both polls.

On the boys side, Hough is to a school best No. 2 after West Charlotte dropped one spot after losing in a Washington, D.C.-area tournament last week.

Shelby also fell three spots to No. 9 after being losing 68-59 to Freedom. Freedom jumped one spot to No. 7

In the girls poll, North Meck is up to No. 4 and there could be more change next week, as No. 1 Myers Park visits No. 2 Ardrey Kell Friday.

Why is ardrey kell out of the poll? They have beat Mallard Creek and Independence not once, but twice. They only have 3 losses compared to 4 by independence amd the creek. Might want to rethink your poll.

Lake Norman Charter boys basketball team should be considered in your sweet sixteen list. They won their first regular season Southern Piedmont conference title in school history. They are on a 13 game winning streak. Max prep has them listed at number 6 among 1A schools in the State of NC. Rivals has them listed as number 8 among NC schools. They are the only school from the Charlotte/Huntersville area. They should be on your list. Not all those schools on that list are all that better than Lake Norman Charter
