Forgot how much I missed games at Memorial Stadium when the place
was closed for repairs. There’s no better spot in town to watch a game
and if the stadium could get some needed renovations, it would be even
more special.
• I think Davidson Day quarterback Will Grier’s
837-yard, 10-touchdown pass performance last week should be recognized
in the state and national record books. Davidson Day and Harrells
Christian are established schools in a statewide organization.
• Interesting how, state-wide, Charlotte teams have become the hated and
the hunted. Guess winning nine of the past 12 big-class state titles
will do that. Anyone remember when Charlotte went from 1981 through ’94
without winning anything?
• The state may be watching East
Forsyth and Butler in a Battle of the Titans, but Belmont (Statesville
at South Point) and Union County (Sun Valley at Porter Ridge) might just
shut down. And I’m not sure that if you get to Charlotte Catholic
(playing Kannapolis Brown) at the final school bell, it would be early
enough to get a parking spot and a seat.

i feel the same way,,school has 120 kids plays in Div 11 private,,thats not really high school,,plus who are they playing to score 100 points,,and give up 82,,kid needs to be playing at a real school,,
South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind is an established school in a real conference. Would they be fair game for him to throw for more yards against. Davidson Day played two decent teams this year. Providence Day, who they lost to 24-15 and Country Day, who they lost to 56-15, with the last touchdown coming in garbage time. Any truth to the rumors both Grier and his dad are going to Latin next year?
i think both of you guys are fags
How about a translation of the title of the blog ...
they are playing any real teams let them play a public school team and see if they do half as good as they do now
Once again a local public school player recruited by a local private school scores 6 tds and wins the playoff game amounting to 42 out of 49 pts.
Unless recruiting public students is banned and it would never happen or all schools are districted it is past time to put all non-districted schools regardless of religious, private, independent, charter etc in private school affilation in Raleigh. This should not even be an argument.
CC should rejoice since they would win the state every year in every sport.
In addition NCHSAA need to immediately revamp everything and add TWO more Divisions in every sport to have 5A and 6A.
What are these idiots at the NCHSAA Raleigh waiting on or are they just lazy? They don't need approval from anyone and can change the system on their own and they know it.
Its a win win for all schools and the system. Make 6 Divisions for play in 2013.
The Observer does not recognize DDS in the sweet 16 - but the NCHSAA should even though DDS is not a member..???
East Forsyth would have cracked Mallard Creek. Statesville TKO of South Point the big kicker. Totally unexpected.
Guess that sets up the big reset for the mutha of all muthas next Fri nite at Mem Stad.
Why not play at BOA? Wheres Richardson? BOA hasn't seen the real deal in yrs and the play action will beat any local nfl Pop Warner play plus much these high school amateur's act with much more professional demeanor and intelligence.
Not naming any names but most of the local mediocre "pro" players never played on high school teams who won a single playoff game much less multiple state titles.
go fig
Dd played 3 public schools and won by an average of 27 points. Oh wait, you must be referring to,let me guess, butler or mallard creek. They play in the division 2 private school league. They have to play their conference games. Outside of that, they played 3 public schools and the Latin, country day and providence day. Didnt have to play those games. Nobody else from d2 played all the big 3. They beat mallard creek in 7on 7 this summer. Would they beat them on Friday night in pads. No. However 7on7 all skill positions. Should have been an even bigger advantage for mallard creek. They played as tough of a schedule as they possible could. Once again the typical ding dong response that is so common. Is it possible for some of you idiots to actually compiliment a kid or program for a job well done. Does your school or kid not get enough attention for you? Take it up with a writer.
And every now and then a team or player is entitled to have an off night. It happens.
Grier did not come from a public school
