Donte Means has big year for East Rowan football (which is having a big year)

Donte Means of East Rowan is having a special season. Earlier this year, when East upset West Rowan 13-7, Means had the first interception returned for a touchdown for his school since 2008. Friday night, Means returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, starting a 47-14 win over South Rowan

East Rowan (6-3, 5-0 North Piedmont) at No. 8 Statesville (8-1, 4-0)
A year ago, East Rowan was 1-9. Two years ago, East was 2-9. Friday night, East Rowan will try to win its first conference championship since 1997. Statesville rallied to beat Alexander Central 37-27 last week. Statesville’s Tyree Ward, Brevin Renwick and Jaylan Williams have a combined 60 catches for 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns.
