Butler All-American WR Uriah LeMay to sit out Friday's playoff game

Butler All-American receiver Uriah LeMay will sit out the Bulldogs' first round N.C. 4AA playoff game against West Forsyth (5-5) Friday. LeMay has committed to the University of Georgia.

LeMay, a 6-foot-3 senior, was ejected in the first half of Butler's 33-14 win over Independence. He was removed from the game after making a catch on the Independence sidelines.

N.C. High School Athletic Association assistant commissioner Mark Dreibelbis told the Observer that LeMay was ejected for taunting and baiting. Dreibelbis said that brought about the one-game suspension. Per Charlotte-Mecklenburg School rules, LeMay will have to miss a second game if Butler wins Friday. CMS rules call for a student-athlete to miss an additional game, athletics director Sue Doran said.

LeMay is Butler's leading receiver. He had two catches for 31 yards against Independence and has 33 catches for 733 yards and 10 touchdowns for the season.

Efforts to reach Butler coach Brian Hales as well as LeMay's father, Stacy, were unsuccessful.

Butler (10-0) is ranked No. 1 in the Observer's Sweet 16 football poll as well as the N.C. Associated Press statewide rankings. The Bulldogs are No. 8 in USA Today's national poll and jumped two spots to No. 6 in ESPN's national poll.

Wow! I was at that game and he wasn't the only one so called 'taunting'. What about a grown man from the coaching staff yelling and waving bye to him as he was being removed. He's and adult!

Whatever!

That's Indy coaching staff for ya no class and they have to try to cheat to get a win! Sorry, with or without LeMay we still one!

So a Butler football player flashes his massive ego on his way to UGA? Hasn't this happened before?

Oh yeah, it has.

Enjoy life between the hedges sitting next to big brother at the far end of the UGA bench where you only get to play in the last 3 minutes of the 56-0 Coastal Carolina game, if the coach can remember who you are.

Butler fan here. Sorry home team but gotta say it, we don't need him, he is a big distraction.

I have no dog in the fight, but there had to be more to it. I saw the game on television and all I saw him do was raise the ball in the air after a catch. Yes he did taunt the crowd, but it wasn't that serious. I tell you what...butler fan don't get crazy, you might win the first round game without him, but you are nuts if you think Butler can win a state championships without him in the lineup!!!

Doesnt CMS policy state that a player must sit out at least 2 games if they are ejected?

Call the woman AD for CMS. Is she any more worthy of the position than the last one?

I thought CMS is suppose to match whatever the state gives.

Father unavailable for a comment..yeah right like we believe that

I think anyone watching the replay of the game can conclude the officials are targeting and throwing the hanky on one side far more than the other. I am not saying that Butler shouldn't have gotten some of the flags but the scales are way too far to one side!!

You want to talk about Indy cheating. What about Zack, Riley and all three Lemay boys? They all lived in Indy district just used other addresses. The Lemay's have had 3 addresses on CMS records since the school lines changed. And yes I agree that the Indy coaches have no class but neither does the Butler coaches. So that's a mute point.

Enjoy the taunting while you can Butler. The current seniors, many of whom reside in other districts, are the last of Newsome's boys. Indy throttled the Butler JVs and Indy's best varsity players are sophs. and juniors. Gonna be big changes next year.

You people kill me with this "next year is going to to change" crap. Only losers say things like that. Focus on this year people.

Butler is running on empty only so long before it blows up, at the minimum you gotta find a new dc for the best one in the state...

You people are unbelievable. You think high profiled players would be living out of the district illegally?! Seriously, you're adults right?! Grow up and let these boys enjoy their Senior year playing football at a school where they attend legally. Try reading James 3:16, that may explain some things for ya! In the meantime while we are rebuilding at Butler next year, y'all continue to be on the look out for the Bulldogs, cause with you're negativity motivating them, they'll be just fine!

Dominate

Wow, strong critics I see. Not very knowledgeable though. Ok for 1, CMS matches the states 1 game penalty which would equal 2. No need to call the AD of CMS as you put. 2nd, 3 proofs of residency have to be showed to attend a school so its more than just "using other addresses" that have to be accounted for silly adults. These kids are high-profiled but that doesn't mean you have to scrutinize them like professionals. If both coaching parties are "unprofessional", I would trust Butler's with my child. Oh and last, the varsity sophs for Indy played Thursday night as well. Doesn't make them better. If Butler did the same trust and believe it would have been two uncontested wins for Butler Thursday and Friday.

Did a Butler fan just admit the rebuilding project next yr??? Lol no wonder steve is leaving as dc? That true that him hales cant get along??? Lol

I heard Shaugnassy was leaving because he is having a surgical procedure on his throat. I saw him at team camp in Presbyterian with a megaphone lol. Heard that megaphone is active at practices as well. Im sure he won't be too far away next yr.

Hes leaving because talent pool is dropping off somewhat, he will be coaching with a new charlotte area school next august, bank on it

I would love to see West Forsyth come in their house and spank those spoiled brats, West is the best 5-5 team in the state.

A Lemay in trouble with the CMS, No Way! History repeating itself?

When your address pops up in NCWise (the cms database for student info) and its linked to a house that was foreclosed on then it makes people question where you really live. And no the CMS dictators in their high up places do not double check on the high profile schools when people call the hotline. Not being a Butler hater as I think they have great players and coaches but the address swap was still happening through last year.

sit out....shouldnt it read "suspended"

Anonymous said...

Well Indy would know about the use of illegal addresses as you all are the ones who got busted doing it! So, practice what you preach!! Don't point the finger at our boys using wrong addresses when they live in the Butler zone! Does your life suck that bad being a patriot that you have to pick apart high school boys and degrade their coaching staff?

Indy 7 State Championships
Butler 2 ????

Anonymous said...

33 sean wiggins lives in indy zone, not a secret though nobody at cms or co care to check, what are you teaching your son?

Anonymous said...

Just worry about your own players and stop being so involved with ours! Senior year baby they are grandfathered in, shows how much you know! Live I'm the present ant not the past or the future we know how many championships you have but who is KING OF THE HILL now!!!!!

Butler cheats. I have offers this before and I will do it again. If I show you indisputable proof of their cheating then you write a check for $500 to a local charity of my choice. If I cannot show you indisputable proof then I will hand YOU $1000 cash.

And as for Rev. LeMay being unavailable for comment.....having sex with a little girl at school was, "a youthful indiscretion." Being ejected from a ball game isn't going to be a big deal to this man.

Anonymous said...

He is not grandfathered in according to the rule, he is the unfortunate long term sufferer of being shown how to grow into a corrupt adult by so many shameless people who should be there to guide him

Anonymous said...

FYI it was not a little girl it was a consenting girl who was of the same age! Get your facts straight before trying to throw someone under the bus! It's sad that there are so many haters at Independance and obviously are unhappy with themselves or their school! Oh ya, you all are probably the ones who were at butler before the lines were redrawn that's why you have so much anger!

Yea but where did he get key to fieldhouse???? Lol
