North Meck hires baseball, wrestling coaches; Country Day soccer coach resigns

North Mecklenburg has hired new wrestling and baseball coaches, athletics director Kevin Wilson said.

Gary Workman, the longtime Central Cabarrus coach, will take over the Vikings program immediately. Wilson said the Vikings return nearly 25 wrestlings, including nine seniors.

Sean Ryan is the Vikings new baseball coach. Ryan, who is starting fall workouts, is a former Rutgers player who was drafted by the Phillies organization.

Dennis resigns as Country Day girls soccer coach
Charlotte Country Day athletics director Amos Branson told the Observer that longtime girls soccer coach Ian Dennis has resigned.

Branson said after 18 years, Dennis was ready to do something else.

At Country Day, Dennis has coached the boys and girls teams, though for the past several seasons, he was only girls coach.

Branson said the school would immediately begin searching for a replacement.
