Former Hopewell coach Eric Davis back to coach basketball at Gaston Day

Former Hopewell coach Eric Davis is the new boys basketball coach at Gaston Day School.

Davis comes from West Brunswick in Shallotte. In eight years before he got there, West Brunswick was 18-108. Last season, under Davis, the team won 16 games and made the playoffs.

At Hopewell, Davis led the team to 11 straight playoff berths and a N.C. 4A Western Regional playoff appearance in 2009.

Glad to see Eric Davis back in the area. Hadn't followed Gaston Day a lot, but if you have followed any team he has been coaching they will be competitive his first year. After that watch out. Class A guy who runs a class A program!

Left Hopewell because he saw the writing on the wall. They werent going to be very good-so her packed his things. Obviously the same thing is taking place at his beach school-must not be enough talent. Class A guy does that???

Class A guys dedicate themselves to the student athlete. a year hear and two years there is not going to cut it. Students deserve better. When players switch schools it's a big deal, but coaches can? HUMM...

11 years at Hopewell and 8 years at Brunswick - why criticize that tenure?

8 years at West Brunswick? That would mean he started coaching when he was 18 years old. He was only at West Brunswick for 2 years max.
