Myers Park to take "Beauty Bus" to lacrosse finals -- and then prom

Throughout the season, Myers Park's girls' lacrosse team knew if it made Saturday's N.C. championship in Raleigh against unbeaten Apex, the team might have to choose between a championship ring or prom. Myers Park's prom is also Saturday.

One of the player's parents has helped solve the problem by renting a bus to take the girls to Saturday's 1 p.m. game and have them back in time for prom. They're calling it the "Beauty Bus" and hair stylists and makeup artists will join the team on the bus, which is equipped with showers, to help them get ready for their big night.

The Mustangs are a group with diverse backgrounds and interests. Emily Auerbach is a Morehead-Cain scholar. Her hobby is trapeze. She's drum major for the marching band. Five players are in the national art society. Erin Larsen is on the debate team. Ginny Lowe served on a Ronald McDonald House teen board. Charlotte Moore is half Lumbee Indian.

Coach Sasha Vedock played in high school at Apex and helped her team to the 2007-08 state championships. Tonight, she'll coach against her old team, which beat Myers Park 17-9 earlier this season.

Abigail Harris is Myers Park's leading scorer with 45 goals. ... Lowe, who leads the team in assists, saw her brother, now playing college lacrosse, lead Myers Park to a state boys' title last year.

Why is it impossible to find out who won this game?
