Mountain Heritage center John Cannon signs with Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) – Georgia coach Mark Fox has signed John Cannon, a center from Burnsville, N.C.

Cannon (6-10, 225) averaged 21.9 points, 12.3 rebounds and 6.5 blocks at Mountain Heritage High School. Mountain Heritage eliminated Berry from the 2A regionals in the regional semifinal round in March.

Fox says Cannon has “good size and good skills for a young, big man.”

Earlier in the spring signing period, Fox signed forward Nemanja Djurisic, a native of Montenegro who finished his high school career in South Kent, Conn.

Fox signed three players in November: guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, from Greenville, Ga.; forward Tim Dixon, from Columbus, Ga.; and 7-foot center John Florveus, from Fort Myers, Fla.

The spring signing period ends on May 18.
