Clt Christian basketball star Patrick Rooks commits to Clemson

Charlotte Christian sophomore guard Patrick Rooks has committed to Clemson, Knights coach Shonn Brown told the Observer.

Rooks, a 6-2 left hander, averaged 9.7 points last season, second on the team behind 6-foot-8 senior forward Anthony Gill (19.2). Gill has signed with South Carolina.

the question with early commits is will they keep their commitment, this kids going to have a breakout season next year

It goes both ways. Clemson request this from hundreds of guards in order to narrow their pool. This is only a "commitment", nothing more. The kid has a very LONG WAY to go. I guess Clemson is hoping for the best because the kid is at best OK. His stats are Horible and there are better guards in the area. But Clemson is Clemson. If he works harder he will be fine.

this kid only averaged 10 points and is going d1?

Not about the stats...it is how you play and fit into a program.

well the stats tells you how a person plays just like you said...he obviously didn't play that well because you look at other d1 guys and they average 20 points a game

I think anyone would be hard pressed to find a better shooter in the city. The kid nailed 9 3 pointers in a game and canned 6 at the Telep Challenge. He is a systematic player who conformed to Brown's program. The kid can flat out score. He is blowing it up in the summer. Clemson runs a system as well, but the kid will have more freedom to roam in CU system. Just my opinion.

Patrick has been on Clemsons radar since an 8th grader and has played varsity since the 8th as well.
