Northside Christian ends First Assembly's unbeaten run, grabs first place

Northside Christian, the Bojangles' Shootout champion, continued its magical season Monday night, beating two-time N.C. 2A Independent Schools state final runner-up Concord First Assembly 75-70.

The win, which came in front of a standing-room only crowd at Northside, ended First Assembly's unbeaten season and pushed the Knights (18-1, 8-0 Metrolina Athletic) into first place in the conference.

Northside got 28 points from center Dionte Adams on a night when star Griffin Pittman scored just eight. First Assembly (13-1, 7-1) got 27 from Chad Frazier.

The teams meet again Friday at First Assembly. A win there would likely give Northside the conference title in coach Byron Dinkins' first season.
