No. 9 North Meck wins at No. 10 Vance, despite playing without injured star

Playing without star point guard Carlin Bremner, a 20-point scorer, North Mecklenburg, No. 9 in the Observer's Sweet 16 poll, won its third straight game 62-57 over Vance Friday.

Tahjai Watt, a 6-foot-5 sophomore, had 15 points and 14 rebounds; point guard Shivaughn Wiggins had 14 points, four steals and four assists; and Jermaine Forte had 14 points and 7 rebounds for the Vikings (13-2, 4-1 I-Meck 4A) who rallied from 10 points down in the fourth quarter.

No. 10 Vance fell to 8-4, 3-2.

"It's a big win," Vikings coach Duane Lewis said. "Every one we're cherishing this year. We're playing without our best player and these guys have bought into that."
