Olympic’s boys had never been No. 1 in the Sweet 16 before this season.
Today, the Trojans get to try on the top spot crown for the second time this season. Thanks to North Mecklenburg’s Karl Barkley, who hit a game-winning 3-point buzzer-beater to stop former No. 1 West Charlotte last week, Olympic moves back to the high ground.
West Charlotte drops to No. 2 and Concord moves up a spot to No. 3. Charlotte Christian, No. 3 last week, drops two spots. The Knights lost two close games to nationally ranked competition at an invitational tournament in Florida last week.
North Meck, which shares the I-MECK conference lead with West Charlotte, jumps four spots to No. 4.
-- Indian Trail Sun Valley, which has won eight of its past nine and four in a row, moves into the poll at No. 16. Sun Valley has beaten former Sweet 16 Weddington twice during the win streak.
-- In the girls poll, Berry fell three spots after being upset by Unionville Piedmont last week. And Indian Trail Porter Ridge (13-2) joins the poll at No. 15.

it's Karl Barkley, from North Meck
From someone that doesn't care anything about Shelby basketball so completely unbiased. However, I would move those girls from Shelby up to about 4 or 5. There good...
yeah coach Cal Pass has those Shelby girl's playing lights out. They are beating teams on a constant basis by 30 or 40 points per game. And only still ranked 7th? PLEASE!!!!! Those girls are on their way to a state championship. Mark it down. By the wsy, I'm FROM charlotte. Just know good basketball when I see it.
I would LOVE to see shelby and butler girls go at it. Would be a great game.
So you drop CCS down to 5 for losing to nationally ranked opponents in a national tournament. WC, Concord, North or Olympic couldnt beat any of the teams CCS has lost to. When doing these rankings you should really look at the strength of schedule. CCS would beat anyone in the city in convincing fasion.
how is UFCA nationally ranked in the top 25 and theyre not even on this list? Last time i checked, they are in Charlotte. I think they would beat any team in Charlotte. Im mean come on, they beat Oak Hill!!
