St. Stephens in Hickory is 5-0 and rolling right now and Hickory is in the same conf but 3-1. They have 2 guys averaging 17 plus for St. Stephens. Its a good team to watch.

I wish CMS would drop its ban on scheduling private school teams. This year Charlotte Christian's toughest competitors are at tournaments out of town and there are few, if any, high profile home games on their schedule. It would be a win-win change of policy if CMS would just do it.

What about United Faith, two straight state championships and even with the loss of Ian Miller, it looks likt the team got even stronger

I think there should be more coverage of the entire area. Especially Cabarus County. Concord High School is not the only school that has great players. Central Cabarrus High is 4-0 with a great player in LC Cooks averaging over 27pg, 7rbs, & 5asst. Look outside the box. They are not playing cupcake teams. They finished 2nd in the conferance last year behind Concord. They play Anson High, Charlotte Christian, & West Rowan, etc

uh, maybe you need to check your own small rag and leave the big rag alone.

central cabarrus hasn't played any tough competition yet. The best team they have played so far is Anson, which they won on a buzzer beater. They barely beat Carson and they beat south rowan by 1, so their 4-0 record isn't saying much.

A win is a win, I dont care if you win by 1 or 10. LC Cooks is the truth and carries that team on his back. They play hard and work with what they have unlike the private sector, which can pick and choose. There is no chosing in public school you work with your area. This conversation would not have transpired if the district had not split county lines and sent over half of the kids to another school, name not mentioned. Anson is a football team. With the horrible refs that keep being hired there is no doubt that a lot of teams will need buzzer beaters.

Central Cabarrus is a small team. They have no bigs to help in the post and are still hanging in there and beating teams with mutiple centers. They are quick...

come on where is lake norman. im pretty sure they were state champs last year

central cabarrus is a good team but why would you say anson is a football team? pretty sure their fb team didnt even make the playoffs this year. they are pretty solid in hoops.

Anson has a good coach. The players are pretty good, but coaching says alot. Central has a good coaching staff or they would not be as strong as they are. The coaches push them to show the potential that they have. Really, I wish the best for all of the kids Central, Anson, all over. I feel like Charlotte (surronding area)has a lot of talent! But there is so much pride in the men that they continue to create AAU and private sector teams, which hurts the kids.Charlotte could be a dominant force. The paper tends to continualy talk about the same few kids. How many times can you hear about them, not to mention they are older, grade exceptions and most of them have all of these colleges looking at them and are getting all of the paper attention and end up at a Hargrave once they age out cause the grades are not right. If your child is in the right grade and has good grade and has talent, it is SOOOOOO unfair. There are talented kids throughtout the area, but if you dont know the reporters, or the Gibbons or Talbot, then you are left out. When they come to scout, they already have the ones in mind that they want to see! Its sad that its all about who you know instead of TRUE TALENT!

St. Stephens does this every year. They are 3A and instead of scheduling 3A/4A nonconference games, they beat up on small 2A teams. When they get to their conference games, they aren't ready to compete and end up with a 500 record. They always start the season off 8-1, 7-0, etc. then end up winning only about 12-15 games...NO THEY SHOULD NOT BE IN THE SWEET 16 at all.....Play somebody please.....

What about Providence Day? Beat Ravenscroft last week and blew out Forsyth Country Day tonight. 5-1 record

It really matters on how the school is in that sport. Ive seen plenty of guys who can compete with almost anyone at another school, but because there team isn't any good they end up not making it as big because none of the scouts never come to watch.

St. Stephens does not do this every year so i dont think you know what you are talking about and I mean i do believe they have won more than 15 games the past 2 seasons so thats also not like always and this years team will prob win the conference and beat Hickory also which also plays alot of 2A teams so how bout jump on there backs.
