Myers Park advances to Saturday's N.C. 4A Dual Team Tennis championship

BURLINGTON – The 21st annual North Carolina High School Athletic Association state championships in women’s dual team tennis will be held Saturday with four titles up for grabs at the Burlington Tennis Center, but the field has not been established yet.

Rain forced postponement of seven of the eight regional finals on Thursday, with only Charlotte Myers Park advancing to the state finals. Myers Park downed South Mecklenburg 5-1 on Thursday improve its record to 17-0 and move into the finals for the third consecutive year. The Mustangs await the winner of the Cary Green Hope-Raleigh Broughton match. Broughton is the defending state 4-A champion.

The 1-A and 2-A state finals will start at nine o’clock Saturday morning with the 3-A and 4-A matches starting at noon.

Charlotte Catholic won the 3-A title last year, while Salisbury is the two-time defending champion in 2-A and the North Carolina School of Science and Math took the 1-A crown in 2009.

Wendy's is the presenting sponsor of the NCHSAA sports program.
