Country Day visits Providence Day tonight in key CISAA football game

Providence Day is having a solid season under coach Bruce Hardin as tailback Josh Covington has had a breakout year.

Covington has rushed for 1,311 yards and 18 touchdowns and is the No. 2 running back in the county.

His team will face one of the county's top passers in Country Day's Morgan Roberts, who has thrown for 1,249 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Country Day plays at Providence Day starting at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

The Chargers need an upset to have any shot at a league title. Country Day will look to win to get in position for a CISAA championship showdown at home with Charlotte Latin (7-1, 2-0) next week.

With a new playoff system this year that only puts four teams in the NCISAA Division I playoffs, every conference game matters, so this could be a playoff elimination game of sorts.

Isn't Christian basically out now? Country Day could lose to Latin and Providence Day, and tie with Christian at 1-2, but hold the tiebreaker. The only other team in the state who could qualify is Ravenscroft, and they lost to Country Day 42-14. Also, shouldn't thre be the caveat that if the four teams don't include Christian, they are likely to sue again to be included.

^ Exactly, why did they even go back to 4 team playoff system? It was such a debacle two years ago. Christian didn't qualify for the playoff's and ended up winning the State Championship? Talk about an asterisk in the history books.
