Butler LB Kris Frost picked for national all-star game

Butler High linebacker Kris Frost was selected for the 10th U.S. Army All-American game Jan. 10 in San Antonio.

Four U.S. Army members came to Butler Wednesday for a selection ceremony along with members from their tour committee. The ceremony was held in Butler’s student auditorium along with the Bulldogs football team, cheerleaders. Students were also allowed to come. More than 300 attended.

Frost, uncommitted for college, is the second Butler player selected. Cornerback Robert Blanton played in the game in January 2008. Blanton now plays for Notre Dame.

For the season, Frost has 41 tackles, three caused fumbles, two recovered fumbles, two interceptions and two defensive touchdowns. He’s helped Butler to a 6-0 record.

The Bulldogs, ranked No. 1 in the N.C. 4A state poll and the Observer’s Sweet 16, play East Mecklenburg at home Friday.
