Maiden football coach going to Hall of Fame

Former Maiden football coach Tom Brown will be inducted into the N.C. High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame next spring in Chapel Hill. Brown will be inducted with former multi-sport coach Harvey Brooks, who graduated from old Boyden High in Salisbury.

Also being inducted are former Wake Forest star and prep coach Alton “Tunney” Brooks, who coached basketball and baseball at Edenton Holmes and Lumberton; former Raleigh Sanderson soccer coach Bob Catapano; former Sylva-Webster football coach Joe Hunt; former Perquimans track and basketball coach Carolyn Rogers; and longtime NCHSAA official Que Tucker.

Brown won 330 games in 35 seasons at Maiden High, the state record for most wins by a football coach at a single school. His overall record is 352-132-7.
