Davidson Day AD hires friends, former boss to coach

It's not often that someone gets to hire their former boss.

But that's exactly what new Davidson Day athletic director Tim Weir did when he tagged former UNC Charlotte track coach David Hall as the Patriots' cross country coach.

The two met in 1992 when Hall, who coached the 49ers for 20 years, interviewed Weir for an assistant position. Weir got the job and worked as Hall's only assistant for four years.

Weir said he was excited to get Hall to join his blooming athletic program, which is getting ready for its first football season and boasts a promising basketball team that could compete for a state championship.
