Southlake Christian taps former NBA center as basketball coach

Ben Handlogten is the new boys basketball coach at Southlake Christian. He replaces Trent Barnes, who is leaving to start a business.

Handlogten played high school in Michigan and played in college at Western Michigan where he finished his college career ranked in the top 10 in the nation in pionts, rebounds, steals, blocks and shooting percentage.

Handlogten played professionally in Europe, Asia and with the NBA’s Utah Jazz. Handlogten, a 6-10 center, averaged 4.3 points and 3.2 rebounds in the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons.
