Waddell football coach resigns

Waddell football coach Quentin HInes has resigned, athletics director Phil Williams said.

Hines coached Waddell for two seasons. He was unavailable for comment.

Hines is the second county coach to resign in the past week. East Meck's Greg Hill resigned to take the head football job at Gastonia Ashbrook last week.

The main problem? 750 kids, mostly Hispanics who don't play football. Probably will be closed due to low attendance next year.

He did the most with what he had, but you can only do so much as a coach when you don't have a full deck of cards to play with.

Athletic Director hasn't a clue though. Who hired him? The Principal or downtown? He coached me at Weddington....the worst ever.
