Olympic basketball stars sign with colleges

Olympic’s Darius Carrier and Carlos McClendon signed to play in college.

Carrier (at top, shooting), a 6-foot-7 center, signed with Lander (S.C.). McClendon, a 6-4 guard/forward, signed with Brescia (KY).

Carrier , a two-time all-conference player, averaged 10.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and shot 50 percent from the field for Olympic, which was 19-8 and MEGA 7 regular-season and tournament champion.

“Since his freshman year, Darius has worked his tail off to become the best player on the court and the best student in the classroom he can be,” coach Ty Baumgardner said. “He is a very long and skilled (forward) who can run the floor, rebound and is starting to develop his perimeter game.”
