Ian Miller named MVP of Hardwood Basketball Classic Saturday

United Faith basketball star Ian Miller, a 2010 Parade All-American, was named a co-MVP at Saturday’s Florida vs. USA Hardwood Classic in Orlando. Team USA won 139-111.

The game matched a group of Florida’s best seniors against a team of stars from around the country.

Team Florida included Villanova recruit James Bell, Boston College recruit Papa Samba Ndao and Georgia recruit Cady Lalanne.

Miller led all scorers with 27 points. Bell (20 points, 11 rebounds) shared MVP honors with Miller, a 6-foot-3 Florida State signee who recently made the N.C. Associated Press all-state team for the second straight season.

"I just wanted to come out here and have fun and show the FSU fans what they can look forward to next year," Miller told the Orlando Sentinel after the game. He played on a team with two other Seminoles recruits. "The class we got going to FSU all has that (in) mind – to take FSU to the next level."

Miller will play in the Capital Classic Wednesday at American University. A team of Washington, D.C. area players, including five future ACC or Big East players -- including 6-8 Duke recruit Josh Hairston -- will take on a team of national stars, including Miller, Concord Cannon’s Jarell Eddie (Virginia Tech) and N.C. State recruit Ryan Harrow.
