Greg Taylor is new football coach at Myers Park

Myers Park has hired Rock Hill South Pointe assistant Greg Taylor as its new football coach.

Taylor replaces Jim Ruark, who left earlier this year to take a job as head coach at East Burke.

Taylor was offensive coordinator at South Pointe for the past three seasons. He helped the 2008 South Pointe team win a S.C. state championship. He was previously head coach at Fort Mill and an assistant at Gaffney.

Myers Park athletics director Greg Clewis said Taylor was chosen from a list of 113 applicants. The school will have a reception for Taylor April 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the Myers Park art gallery.

"We are really excited about coach Taylor leading our football program," Myers Park principal Tom Spivey said. "He is a positive person, knowledgeable and has a real passion for high school football. We are very fortunate to find someone of his caliber."
