Weather forcing changes to high school schedule

Updating with weather related changes to tonight's basketball schedule:

All Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are canceling tonight's junior varsity games. Girls varsity games will start 4:30 p.m. followed by the boys at approximately 6:15 p.m. The CMS junior varsity games will not be rescheduled.

Should the weather get worse and tonight's games not be played, CMS will make a decision on make-up dates and how they might affect next week's scheduled conference tournament.

-- The Basketball Tournament Seeding meeting for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools' conferences (I-MECK, MEGA and Southwestern 4A) scheduled for Saturday at Myers Park High has been canceled. The tournament will be seeded by conference secretaries.

The All American Swim Supply-North Carolina HIgh School state 1A/2A swimming championships scheduled for Saturday at the Triangle Aquatic Center have been postponed.
The championships will now be held on Monday, February 15, with the morning schedule adjusted by one hour. The facility will open at 8 am and the pool will open for warm-ups at 8:30. Competition will begin after the coaches' meeting concludes at 9:45.
The finals on Monday will begin at 5 p.m.


Both the 4A and the 1A/2A/3A championships were scheduled for the Eddie Smith Indoor Arena on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Both meets will be moved to next Saturday, February 20, and will utilize the same time schedule.
