JT Terrell goes for 44 in West Charlotte win

West Charlotte senior guard J.T. Terrell scored a season-high 44 points and had 11 rebounds in the Lions 90-81 win over Mallard Creek in the first round of the I-MECK conference tournament at Vance Tuesday.

Terrell has signed with Wake Forest.

Playing in front of scout.com national recruiting analyst Dave Telep, Terrell put on a scoring show as the Lions (15-9) led by double digits for much of the game.

Mallard Creek got close by making some 3-point shots late.

West Charlotte plays I-MECK regular-season champion Hopewell Thursday at 7:30 at Lake Norman. Hopewell beat West Charlotte twice earlier this season.

"You have to play who you're matched up against," Lions coach Baronton Terry said. "To get out of here you have to beat somebody, there's no way around it. Either now, or in the playoffs, you'll see these teams."

JT Terrell is "NOT A TEAM PLAYER".HE DOES NOT IMPRESS ME @ ALL. HE IS SELFISH & WILL NOT MAKE IT @ WAKE FOREST! HE DOES NOT PASS THE BALL TO TEAMMATES. HE IS A "ME" FIRST KID. WEST CHARLOTTE WILL NOT ADVANCE FAR WITH HIM. HE IS A BASKETBALL VERSION OF T.O.

WHAT IS WORST IS THAT HIS COACH @ WEST CHARLOTTE ALLOWS THAT BEHAVIOR!! SAD,ALL THAT IS WRONG WITH MODERN DAY PLAYERS.

I've seen him 2 times and agree 100% with what you said.

Yeah and where will the both of you be playing at next year? JT is one of the best overall player to come through the Queen City. He is just doing what he is expected of him. That's why y'all are not being paid to rank him but people like Dave Telep (Scout.com #18)and ESPNU (#48)are. Go on JT and do your thang boy, use people like that as your motivation.

Hate on haters!!!

JT knows when and where to be a "TEAM PLAYER" He just making sure WC gets the win. When was the last time West Charlotte was known for basketball and had sold out games? JT has put fans back in the stands for West Charlotte. Go Dub C!!!

It's like this JT Terrell has a lot of people who don't care about him, but who cares about that nonsense. He is focused on what's important to him. You have to realize that he is who he is because of his hard work. I think he is a really good player and he will prosper above and beyond. How many times have you seen him play? Maybe once or twice. Try following his whole career and then maybe you can talk. Other than that "DON'T HATE THE PLAYER HATE THE GAME!'

JT has to score for this team to win. If you notice when he doesn't they lose. Actually I think he may pass the ball sometimes when he shouldn't. As far as he being a me first player, Michael Jordan only passed it when he had to!!!

I know you're not comparing this kid to MJ. MJ played defense and made his team better by being an all around player. JT is a great scorer......

@ Anon 9:38 it's been a long time since WC has had a respectable team, but they still have the best basketball tradition in the QC. WC has the most regional appearances (12) than any other team in state history and 4 State Championships. The last time WC had a decent team was in 2005, which made it to the Regionals.
