Butler girls win easy, Butler boys with a buzzer beater

It was Butler's night at the Southwestern 4A tournament championship.

The girls won 60-29 behind 15 points from Clair Watkins and 15 from Cierra Burdick.

East played without starters Monet Tellier, the Virginia Tech recruit and All-America candidate, and guard Aliyah Kilpatrick. They are the Eagles' two leading scorers. Kilpatrick has two stress fractures in her right leg. Tellier sustained a bruise to her orbital bone when she was hit by an elbow earlier this week. She wore a patch over the eye.

In the boys game, Butler guard Marcus Burton hit a 40 foot three at the buzzer for a 35-33 win. Butler had to win to make the playoffs. The Bulldogs will now claim the league's No. 2 seed.
