Brandon Blalock hired as basketball coach at Rocky River

One day after announcing his football coach, new Rocky River principal Mark Nixon has named Brandon Blalock as the school's boys basketball coach.

Blalock, 28, is the junior varsity coach at Butler. This will be his first head job. Rocky River opens next fall.

"He's very organized," Nixon said. "He's very impressive and he comes highly recommended by his mentor (Butler varsity coach), Kurt Wesssler."

Blalock was an graduate assistant coach at Slippery Rock and was also an assistant at Methodist, where he played in college.
