Terrell pours in 33 in first game back, leads W. Charlotte past Harding

West Charlotte star J.T. Terrell returned from a four-game suspension Wednesday night against Harding at Berry High. The game was moved to handle the big crowd, which packed the large gym by halftime of the girls game.

Terrell scored 14 points in the third quarter alone; including 10 points in a decisive 20-5 run that gave the Lions a commanding 23-point lead late in the third quarter. West Charlotte won 92-76.

“I couldn’t wait to get back on the court,” Terrell said. “Sitting out four games gave me a lot to let out and a lot to show.”

Terrell showed it from the opening tap as he hit a 30-foot three pointer less than a minute into the game to start his night. He added four more jumpers in the first eight minutes.

He capped his performance by catching a one-handed alley-oop over two Harding defenders while being fouled to the entire crowd’s delight. The spectacular play gave him his 31st, 32nd and 33rd points of the contest after he converted the old-fashioned three-point play on the foul line.

But Terrell didn’t have to do it alone as the Lions fast pace forced turnovers and points all night. Sophomore forward Julius Hamilton also had 13 points and seven rebounds, while freshman Kennedy Meeks added life off the bench with six points and seven rebounds.
