Weather forcing big changes to tonight's basketball schedule

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools were originally planning to play tonight's scheduled basketball games, but the early arriving snow has forced a change.

Tonight's Sweet 16 showdown between the No. 1 East Meck girls and No. 2 Butler at Butler has been postponed. The schools will have a doubleheader starting Monday at 6. The Sweet 16 boys showdown with No. 2 Lake Norman at No. 1 Hopewell was postponed until Monday. That decision was made earlier Friday.

Also, Ardrey Kell at Myers Park, Mallard Creek at Vance and Providence at Independence were postponed until Monday. Those doubleheader games will start at 6.

The Waddell at West Mecklenburg games, scheduled for tonight, were moved to Wednesday, Feb. 10. Tipoff is at 6 p.m.

The Olympic at Harding doubleheader is still being played tonight.

The home school, in each case, made the decision to make the changes. It was not a district decision.

All CMS athletic activities scheduled for Saturday have been called off.

Lake Norman's boys will now have a particularly tough week: They play at No. 1 Hopewell Monday, host No. 5 Vance Tuesday, play regional power West Charlotte Thursday and Patrick Henry in Virginia Saturday.

I am relatively new to NC. Are there any limits to the number of games a HS team can play in one week?
I would hate to see a team get in trouble due to bad weather.
