Butler's LeMay wins national player of the year award

Butler High quarterback Christian LeMay has been selected MaxPreps National junior of the year.

LeMay, 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds, threw for 3,296 yards and 44 touchdowns, leading Butler to a 15-0 season. In the N.C. 4A Western regional final against national power Independence, LeMay threw for 415 yards and three touchdowns.
He threw two interceptions all season. LeMay was the Gatorade N.C. player of the year and the Observer’s regional player of the year. He was a first team Max Preps All-American.

“It’s a great honor for him and our whole football program,” Butler coach Mike Newsome said. “With all the stuff going on around him, it’s amazing how down to earth he is.”

 Several other area players made the MaxPrep All-Junior team: Rock Hill Northwestern wide receiver Robert Joseph; Goose Creek (S.C.) offensive lineman Brandon Shell; Myrtle Beach quarterback Everett Golson, Rock Hill South Pointe defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney, Rock Hill Northwestern QB Justin Worley, Anson Senior linebacker Stephone Anthony, Chesterfield defensive back Anthony Harris and Winston-Salem Reynolds defensive back Vance Matthews.

Congrats Christian. Good luck in your senior year and with selecting a college. Could I make a plug for Virginia Tech?!
