Butler football gets national honor Thursday

Butler High's football team will get a national honor Thursday.

The school will get the National Guard National Ranking trophy at noon Thursday. Butler finished No. 8 in the MaxPreps national poll and is one of 50 school's being honored on a "Tour of Champions." The trophy will be presented during a noon pep rally.

The MaxPreps Tour of Champions recognizes the best high school football teams in the country. The first tour was in 2005 and honored 10 football programs. In 2007, boys basketball was added. Girls basketball teams were honored in 2008.
