West Charlotte hoop star Terrell to miss four games

West Charlotte boys basketball star J.T. Terrell, who is averaging more than 30 points per game, will have to sit out the Lions next four games after being ejected from Tuesday's 72-70 overtime win against North Mecklenburg.

Terrell, a 6-foot-3 senior guard, is a Wake Forest recruit. He will miss Thursday's home game with Mooresville. He will also sit out Friday's rivalry game with Harding at the Grady Cole Center and the first two games of the Glaxo Invitational Christmas tournament in Raleigh Dec. 28-30.

Terrell was ejected for throwing an elbow, a flagrant foul, and getting a technical within seconds during the second quarter. He finished with two points.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools athletics director Vicki Hamilton said the officials' report indicated Terrell was ejected for fighting when he threw the elbow. Fighting carries an automatic four-game suspension from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and the N.C. High School Athletic Association.
