NCISAA inducts first hall of fame class

CISAA Board of Managers announces inaugural NCISAA Hall of Fame

The NCISAA Board of Managers has announced the creation of the NCISAA Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame has been established to recognize and honor those of noteworthy achievement within the NCISAA.

The introductory class of the NCISAA Hall of Fame are the three Executive Directors of the Board of Managers: Jimmy Williams, one of the founding members of the NCISAA and the first Executive Director; David Thompson, the second Executive Director of the NCISAA as well as Charlotte Latin School’s first Athletic Director; and Chuck Carter, the present Executive Director who has served in this capacity since 1985.

Jimmy Williams, who was Head of School at Wayne Country Day School in Goldsboro, NC, was the NCISAA’s first leader serving as the organization’s chairman. He presided over the initial meeting and helped to begin what is now the NCISAA.

David Thompson, who served as the association second Executive Director, was Charlotte Latin School’s athletic director (1970-1985). He began his tenure in 1976 and held this position until 1985.

Chuck Carter, who is the present NCISAA Executive Director, began serving the association in 1985. He was at Asheville School for forty years and served as the school’s athletic director.

All three selectees will be inducted in a ceremony in February, 2010.
