WEDNESDAY'S RESULTS

Hopewell 56, Victory Christian 38: the Titans, No. 1 in the Sweet 16, dominated from the start, limiting Victory Christian to 11 first half points. Victory shot 33 percent and had 19 turnovers and only eight assists.

Lloyd Simmons had 14 points and five rebounds for Victory. Hopewell got 14 points and 12 rebounds from DeMon Brooks. Bryce Hawkins had 11 points and six rebounds.

Hopewell girls 53, Harding 33, girls championship: Hopewell took an 18-4 lead after the first quarter and cruised home with the title. Hannah Early had 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals and was named championship MVP. Harding didn't get a scorer with more than Bria Lewis' 6 points. The Rams shot 22.8 percent. Hopewell shot 54.3.

Gastonia Forestview 64, Mallard Creek 36: The Jaguars won the third place game easily, jumping out to a 15-6 first quarter lead and limiting Mallard Creek to 26 percent shooting.

Shannon Smith made 3-of-7 3-point attempts and finished with 29 points and 6 assists for Forestview. Nicole Graham had 10 for Mallard Creek.

Harding 65, Ardrey Kell 62: Harding took a 37-20 halftime lead and withstood a bit of a late rally to hold off the Knights in the boys' third place game. Ardrey Kell (9-5) lost its second straight game despite outscoring the Rams 65-62 in the fourth quarter.

Corey Raley-Ross led Harding and all scorers with 36 points. He made 13-of-16 shots and had five rebounds and five steals. Justin Cheek had 22 points and five rebounds for the Knights.


Ardrey Kell girls 46, Victory Christian 45: Amanda Tyson's jumper with 1:48 left was the final score in the game and the winning basket for the Knights, who trailed 26-21 at halftime.

Victory shot 35 percent. Alexis Hicks had 12 points and 14 rebounds. Ayana Rashed had 19 points for the Kings.

Amanda Tyson had 15 points and five rebounds for the Knights. Christelle Shembo had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Erica Chandler had 14 rebounds.

Charlotte Christian 50, Greenville Southside 41: The Knights won their second straight game, limiting Southside to only five points in the fourth quarter. Southside got 12 points and 9 rebounds from Javaris Barksdale. The Knights got 19 points and 6 rebounds from junior center Anthony Gill. Christian got 57 percent for the game.

Concord Cannon 78, Concord Robinson 52: The game was 39-26 at halftime for Cannon and 53-43 going into the fourth quarter, but a big 25-9 push in the final period opened up the game for Cannon, which got its first win this week. Jarell Eddie, who had 31 in Tuesday's round, had 26 points and 12 rebounds. Keith Belfield had 23 points and 11 rebounds for Cannon.

Robinson got 20 points and three steals from Elijah Hampton.

West Meck girls 56, West Charlotte 53, 2 OT: in the 7th place game at the Bojangles Shootout, West Meck outscored the Lions 5-2 in the second OT to secure the win.

West Meck's November Mitchell hit a 3-point shot with 98 seconds left in the second overtime to give her team a 56-51 lead. West Charlotte's Jessica Garris hit a layup with 19 seconds left to get closer but the Lions missed two free throws and two jump shots to end the game.

Mitchell had 17 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals for West Meck. Sharnesha Brently had 10 points and 8 rebounds and Latoya Nixon had 7 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks.

Garris had 17 points and 11 rebounds for West Charlotte. Kalisha Williams had 19 points, 3 steals and 3 rebounds.
