CHAPEL HILL -- Terry Sanford High School of Fayetteville reported the use of an ineligible player in football to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association on Monday afternoon.
As a result, Terry Sanford will have to forfeit football games from the regular season and thus will be ineligible to participate in the state football playoffs.
Terry Sanford was scheduled to host Fayetteville Pine Forest in the opening round.
Since the playoff brackets are already set, by NCHSAA policy no other team will be moved into the brackets and Pine Forest will have a bye in the opening round.
