N.C. 4A girls' tennis tournament results

RALEIGH -- All four number-one singles players from their respective regionals, including defending state champion Grace Baker of Charlotte Meyers Park, won two matches on Friday in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 4-A women's tennis tournament championships at the Millbrook Exchange Park.

Baker will battle Cary Green Hope's Melissa Kandinata while Lauren Frazier of Greenville Rose will take on freshman Chloe Willetts of Winston-Salem R.J. Reynolds in Saturday morning semifinals.

Baker and Kandinata each rolled to a pair of easy victories, dropping only two games each in four sets.

A pair of East Chapel Hill doubles teams, Tamara Hill and Megan Huang along with Tessa Johnson and Tegan Flynn, qualified for the semifinals. All four of the surviving doubles duos are from the same Mideast Regional, including the top pair of Asha Iyengar and Katie Kane from Raleigh Broughton.

Semifinals are scheduled for Saturday morning at 9 am with the winners advancing to the state championship matches later in the day.
