Watauga's Herndon records "golden" tennis set

Watauga High tennis player Shannon Herndon had a "golden" set in a recent match against Newton Foard.

That rare feat means she not only won all six games (which she often does), but won every point in every game.

Twenty-four points in a row.

"This an astonishing thing, in all my years of tennis I have never witnessed one," Watauga coach Terry Hartley said. "It is much more rare than a baseball no-hitter, for example, and that is the only thing I can think to compare it to."

I had one of these playing a match in college. We were a division 1 college playing a division 2 college. Some friends of mine on the soccer team witnessed it. The hardest part was not double faulting towards the end of the set.
