Olympic wins shocker in boys' soccer

Olympic ended Myers Park’s 28-game unbeaten streak in a 2-1 boys’ soccer victory Tuesday night at Olympic.

Myers Park (2-1-1) is top-ranked in the Observer Sweet 16, and reigning N.C. 4A champion. But Olympic (4-1-1) used goals by Tyler McMahan and Edgar Medal in the upset.

The Trojans are No. 13 in the Sweet 16.

Patrick Lipps scored Myers Park’s goal.

The Mustangs were 25-0 last season, and hadn’t lost since Oct. 31, 2007 (a 5-2 playoff loss at Mount Tabor).
