Concussion sidelines Patriots JV player

Independence High junior varsity football player Christian Broome suffered a concussion in last night's game at East Mecklenburg, Patriots athletics director Kelly Lewis said.

The game was stopped, Lewis said, with one minute remaining and the Patriots leading 32-20 and kicking off. Broome took a big hit on the play and laid on the field for several minutes.

He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center and diagnosed with a medium-grade concussion. The sophomore linebacker/defensive back cannot return to action until he's cleared by a licensed N.C. doctor.

Mallard Creek varsity quarterback Marquise Williams suffered a concussion late in a win against East Mecklenburg on Sept. 4. He sat out the Sept. 11 game against Garinger. Mallard Creek had a bye Sept. 17. Williams is expected to play in tonight's home game against Mooresville.

Langston you get on my nerves. Since when do you talk about a JV team let alone a player. I'm only 13 and im already sick of you because all you do is hate on East Meck.
