CMS rules W. Charlotte player ineligible

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has suspended a West Charlotte football player from participating in athletics at any N.C. public school for 365 days.

The district said it discovered residency and honor code violations with the student. The school did not incur a penalty. The player participated in the Lions first game, but West Charlotte lost to East Mecklenburg.

The player sat out Friday’s win over West Mecklenburg.
