Pitcher Ryan Butler threw a four-hit shutout Saturday, overcoming a few shaky moments, as Ardrey Kell stopped Raleigh Sanderson 1-0 to win the N.C. 4A state championship.
It was the first team sports title in the Knights' three-year school history.
The Knights scored the winning run in the first inning. Second baseman Alex Bartholomeo doubled and moved to third on a sacrifice. Ryan Stetson knocked him in on a sac fly to center.
Butler then made it stand up, needing two double plays and some timing fielding to make it stand up.
